Comments:

The Lamborghini 400 GT has been delivered in 1967 to its first owner Mon. Nello

Piran, 60 Rue Pauly, Begles, France through the early exclusive Lamborghini

dealership Voitures Paris Monceau.

On the 5th of December 1975 the car was sold to an unknown enthusiast who

inherited the Lamborghini in 1980 to Mon. Jean Francois Tujas, 14 Rue Florales,

Marmande, France. The registration number was still the same as 8814 QA 47.

In 1985 the car changed hands again to Mon. Perre who has never registered

and obviously not driven the car.

It was then sold again in 2000 to Mon. Walter Philippe which was living in 32700

Castera-Lectourois, France. He kept the car until 2007. The Lamborghini 400 GT

was according to the first pics in the archive file in not running partly

dismantled and molested condition.

It was then obviously bought on the 13th of December 2007 by the well-known

Lamborghini specialist Autodrome, 78314 Maurepas Cedex, France. They

immediately started a nut and bolt restoration. The bodywork was

commissioned to the famous body restorer La Carrosserie Lecoq, 105, Rue

Casimir Perier, 95 870 Bezons. Andre Lecoq is known for his skills of amazing

bodywork, definitely the best decision for a complete body rebuilt in France.

The car was completely dismantled and received a bare metal repaint. Parts of

the body panels had been replaced where it was needed. The amazing work is

documented by lots of detailed photos showing the car just in its steel body in

bare metal.

The complete technique was rebuilt at Autodrome. They were going through

everything, rebuilding the original 4000 ccm engine, new wiring harness, new

suspension, new brakes, everything was replaced. The car received new Borrani

wire wheels and each chrome item was rechromed.

The new owner decided to repaint the Lambo in a new and more desirable colour

scheme as marrone metalizzato with a contrasting interior with beige leather and

brown carpets.

There are as well lots of pics of the whole restoration in the archive file which is

accompanying the car.

The result was an absolutely new Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2.

I assume that the complete rebuilt of the car had exceeded easily the cost of

200.000,- Euros.

Short time after its renovation the Lambo was sold to a new German owner who

sold it in 2016 again to the last and very known car afficionado based in

Munich/Germany.

Interestingly in 2014 the engine has been rebuilt again at one of the most

famous Lamborghini specialists in Germany. Wolfgang Instinsky dismantled

the engine and installed new piston liners and carried out all necessary work on

the engine. The invoice shows an amount at 30.000,- Euros. In 2021 the last

owner commissioned a complete rebuilt of the differential which had caused

some noise. By this the whole diff was taken apart and the rack and pinion had

been replaced. The invoice in the large archive file is showing another 15.000,-

Euros. This work was carried out by Ricambi Toro, which is one of  the best

Lamborghini parts supplier and especially workshop for old Lamborghini.

Today the Lambo is still in marvelous technical condition. The latest test drive

has shown tremendous power coming out of its 4000 ccm, four cam unit fired by

six Weber carbs. The engine sounds marvelous, gears are perfectly shifting and

the brakes are like new. It is big fun to drive this car.

Cosmetically it is still in same fantastic condition as it has been after its

gorgeous restoration. I guess that it has been driven very carefully and only

frequently because you cannot find and see any wear in the passenger

compartment or at the perfectly detailed engine compartment.

I suppose that Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 in this perfectly restored condition are

normally never coming into the market.

If someone is looking for a beautiful Lamborghini thoroughbred in fantastic

restored condition, this is the car.
