The gorgeous Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta is one of the most exquisitely
proportioned and most beautiful of all Pininfarina styling creations on the
legendary front-engine Ferrari 250 GT chassis. These were classic, high-
performance GT road cars with the difference, for they combined prodigious
power and speed with the highest contemporary levels of elegance and
comfortable accomodations for their passengers. The prototype of the new 250
GT Lusso was launched at the Paris Motor Show in October 1962 representing
Pininfarina's zenith and final evolution of the Ferrari's legendary 250 model.
The Lusso on offer has been originally delivered into Switzerland to the market
dealer Ital Auto in Lausanne. Its original colour specification has been argento
with the Nero (black) hide interior. It remained in Switzerland where it has been
driven a while by the famous Porsche works race driver Jo Siffert. In this time
the originally supplied three carb set up has been changed against the more
desirable Weber six carbs which has been used for the 250 GT SWB alloy race
cars. The car still has the its original early Weber six carb set up which increase
the engine power by 20 bhp. In the seventies the car was sold by the Paul
Blancpain which has been the manager of Jo Siffert to the south of Germany. In
the late eighties the car changed hands a couple of times being in England.
From there it was sold by the famous Ferrari dealer John Collins into the hands
of a Netherland based enthusiast who restored and serviced the car over the last
18 years. This is documented by an enormeous file of restoration and service
bills.
